Preventing Pressure Bed Sores
Mattress Replacement Systems are, as stated, a replacement for a standard mattress and are generally 8” to 10” thick. Adjustable bed Mattress replacement systems include the Alternating Pressure Mattress, the Low Air Loss Mattress and the Alternating Low Air Loss Mattress. They can be used for both Group I and Group II Patients. Group 1 mattress replacements are designed to be used for preventing pressure ulcers (more commonly referred to as pressure bed sores). Group 2 mattresses are designed to treat people with pressure ulcers.
Alternating Pressure Mattress Replacement Systems offer an extraordinary therapeutic surface for the prevention and treatment of pressure sores (pressure bed sores). It alternates inflation and deflation of cells to constantly change pressure points and promote circulation of blood in the tissues, a failure of which is a major cause of a pressure bed sore.
The Low Air Loss Mattress Replacement System floats the patient on air-filled cells while circulating air across the skin to reduce moisture and help maintain a constant skin interface pressure "True Air Loss" utilizes 100-150 liters of air per minute to maintain normal skin temperature and moisture levels, yet will not dry out therapeutic dressings. This will aid in preventing or curing Pressure sores. these beds work great for hospital bed mattresses.
Alternating Low Air Loss Mattress Systems offer the best of both worlds, alternately inflating and deflating alternate cells while circulating air across the skin to help prevent or cure pressure sores. Order your foam mattress or other adjustable bed mattress to prevent a pressure bed sore from forming.
